STEWARDSHIP

STEWARDSHIP IS OUR WAY OF GIVING BACK TO GOD THROUGH HIS CHURCH, OURSELVES, AND THROUGH OUR NEIGHBORS IN OUR BROADER COMMUNITY

STEWARDSHIP: is most frequently defined as the conducting, supervising, or managing of something; especially : the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care.

MANAGING: is defined as taking care of and making decisions about something (such as someone's time, money, etc.).

The somethings most frequently cited in the stewardship writings of the various Christian denominations, including our own, are those given and entrusted to us by God.  They are our Time ~ our Talents ~ our Treasures...also known as the "3Ts."

Stewardship in the church is a personal as well as a corporate and a community privilege and responsibility. As members of the church our collective and individual progress toward fulfilling our personal faith journeys, and supporting the fulfillment of the mission statement for Faith Church both rely upon our collective and individual stewardship of everything God has given us which support them.

Since the Faith Church Board and the Congregation adopted our mission statement for our church family, it therefore supports each member's personal faith journey as well as that of the church in whole.  We believe that each of us are stewards of the church's mission and our own journeys of faith as we manage the God-given gifts of our time, talents, and treasure.

Please consider again the words of this familiar passage from 2 Corinthians, Chapter 9:6-8

"6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."

Giving back to God some of what He has given us from our Treasure, Time, and Talents is an act of Worship and of Faith. It is not just a "Sunday Thing!"
